Foresite vs Plausible

Foresite costs less than Plausible at every traffic level up to 10 million pageviews a month: $4 vs $9 at 10,000 and $39 vs $69 at 1 million against Plausible's cheapest plan, with unlimited sites and every feature in each price, where Plausible caps sites per plan. Pick Foresite if you run several sites or client sites and want simple, low-cost stats under your own branding. Pick Plausible if you want to self-host open-source software, keep your data on European-owned infrastructure, or need team logins, funnels, a stats API or a Search Console integration.

Things to know when you read this table:

  • Both count the same thing. Plausible's monthly limit covers pageviews and custom events across all your sites, and so does Foresite's. Pageview goals don't add to either count. Bot traffic is filtered out on both. See how we count.
  • Two rows don't line up exactly. Plausible's steps are 200,000 and 2 million; Foresite's are 250,000 and 2.5 million. In both rows Foresite's price is the lower one and its allowance the larger one.
  • The closest plan depends on what you need. For one site with pageviews, goals and custom events, compare with Starter. For two or three sites, shared links or team members, compare with Growth. For revenue tracking, custom properties, or four to ten sites, compare with Business. Foresite has no plans: every feature is in every price.
  • Plausible offers yearly billing with two months free, which brings Starter at 10,000 pageviews to $90 a year ($7.50 a month). Foresite is billed monthly only.
  • Going over your traffic works differently. Plausible doesn't charge for an occasional spike. If you're over your plan's limit two months in a row, it asks you to upgrade, and locks your dashboards if you don't within a week; it keeps collecting your stats in the meantime. Foresite has no plan to outgrow: each month, your next bill is the price for last month's traffic, up or down, and collection never stops. See pricing.

When Plausible is the better choice

  • You want to host it yourself. Plausible's Community Edition is free and open source. It's released twice a year and doesn't include funnels, user journeys, ecommerce revenue goals, SSO or the Sites API. Foresite can't be self-hosted.
  • Your data must stay with European-owned companies. Both store stats in the EU, but Plausible's providers are European-owned, and Foresite's hosting providers are US companies.
  • Several people need their own logins. Plausible has team members, roles and guest access. A Foresite account has one login.
  • You need deeper analysis. Funnels, user journeys, scroll depth, time on page, city-level locations, saved segments and annotations are in Plausible and not in Foresite.
  • You connect analytics to other tools. Plausible has a Stats API, a Looker Studio connector, a Search Console integration, Slack reports and an importer for Google Analytics data. Foresite has none of these.
  • You want a long track record. Plausible has run since 2018 and has more than 21,000 paying subscribers, according to its website. Foresite launched in October 2026.

When Foresite is the better choice

  • You want to pay less. At every traffic level up to 10 million, Foresite is cheaper than Plausible's cheapest plan. Against Business, which has the revenue tracking and custom properties every Foresite price includes, it's $4 vs $19 at 10,000 pageviews and $39 vs $139 at 1 million.
  • You run more than one site. One Foresite price covers every site you have. On Plausible, a second site needs Growth and an eleventh needs Enterprise.
  • You're an agency or freelancer. Every price includes a multi-site overview, branded share links clients open without logging in, and weekly or monthly email reports with your logo, name and colours. Share links can be served from your own address, such as reports.youragency.com.
  • You don't want to pick a plan. Your price follows last month's traffic, up or down, and your stats are never paused or locked for being over a limit.
  • You want every feature at any size. Custom events, properties, revenue, goals, CSV export and a custom domain are in the $4 price as much as the $449 one.
  • You don't need the features above. If pageviews, sources, campaigns, goals and revenue on one page cover what you look at, you're not paying for the rest.

Switching from Plausible

  1. Start a Foresite trial and add your sites. Seven days, no card.
  2. Add the Foresite tracking script next to Plausible's. It's one line in the <head> of your site; the install guide has steps for Webflow, Framer, Squarespace, WordPress, Wix, Shopify and Carrd. Both scripts can run side by side during the trial, so you can compare the numbers before you decide. Expect them to be close rather than identical, since the two count bots and sessions in their own ways.
  3. Recreate your goals and events. Add page goals in Settings → Goals, and change each plausible('Signup') call in your code to foresite('signup'). See custom events, goals and revenue. If you track outbound links, downloads or 404s, switch on automatic events.
  4. Move your ad-blocker setup. If you proxy Plausible's script, set up a custom domain or a self-hosted proxy for Foresite.
  5. Keep your history. Foresite can't import Plausible data, so export your Plausible stats as CSV before you cancel if you want to keep them.
  6. Remove the Plausible script once you're happy with Foresite.
