Foresite vs Simple Analytics

Foresite and Simple Analytics are both cookieless, privacy-first web analytics. Simple Analytics has a free plan (5 websites, 30 days of history, a badge on your site, no events or goals); Foresite has no free plan, but against Simple Analytics' paid plan it costs less at every traffic level, $9 vs $20 a month at 100,000 pageviews and $39 vs $60 at 1 million, with unlimited sites where Simple Analytics includes 10 websites and one user. Pick Simple Analytics for a free hobby site, an EU-owned company, extra team logins, a stats API or Google Analytics import; pick Foresite for a lower bill, many sites, and branded reporting for clients.

Things to know when you read this table:

  • Both count the same thing. Simple Analytics prices by "datapoints", which are pageviews and events together; its plan table labels the limit "Pageviews / events". Foresite's monthly allowance also covers pageviews and custom events. On both, one allowance is shared by all your sites, and bots are filtered out. See how we count.
  • Extra users cost extra on Simple Analytics. Its paid plan includes one user, and each additional user is $20 a month. Foresite has one login per account and no team members at all; you share read-only links instead.
  • Site limits differ. Simple Analytics' paid plan includes 10 websites and its free plan 5. Foresite includes unlimited sites at every price.
  • Small and very large sites. The pricing page's slider runs from 100,000 to 2.5 million pageviews. The $15 price for up to 20,000 and the $320 and $800 prices come from the plan's price table, which adds $16 per extra million above 10 million. Large sites may be offered Enterprise pricing instead.
  • The free plan is for hobby sites. It has no page limit, under a fair-use policy, but keeps only the last 30 days, requires a Simple Analytics badge on your site, and doesn't include events, goals or the stats API.
  • Yearly billing. Simple Analytics offers yearly billing with two months free: $200 a year at 100,000 pageviews. Foresite is billed monthly only, and twelve months at 100,000 come to $108.
  • Both follow your traffic automatically. Simple Analytics sets each month's fee from last month's datapoints, then from the average of the previous three months, so spikes are smoothed out. Foresite sets your next bill from last month's traffic alone, up or down, and never stops collecting. See pricing.
  • Currency. Simple Analytics bills in US dollars, euros or British pounds. Foresite bills in US dollars.

When Simple Analytics is the better choice

  • You want to pay nothing. For a personal site where the last 30 days of pageviews are enough and a badge is fine, the free plan costs $0. Foresite's smallest price is $4 a month.
  • You want an EU company on EU-owned infrastructure. Simple Analytics is a Dutch company, and says your website data never leaves the Netherlands. Foresite stores stats in the EU, but with US-owned hosting providers, and is a Canadian company.
  • Several people need their own logins. Simple Analytics sells extra users at $20 a month each. A Foresite account has one login.
  • You're moving off Google Analytics and want your history. Simple Analytics imports GA4 data. Foresite starts counting from the day you install it.
  • You connect analytics to other tools. Simple Analytics has a stats API on its paid plan. Foresite has no API.
  • You want trend lines, annotations or an AI assistant. Foresite has none of these.
  • You want a long track record. Simple Analytics has run since 2018. Foresite launched in October 2026.

When Foresite is the better choice

  • You want to pay less. Above the free plan, Foresite is cheaper at every traffic level in the table: $4 vs $15 for a small site, $9 vs $20 at 100,000 pageviews, $69 vs $120 at 2.5 million.
  • You run more than 10 sites. One Foresite price covers every site you have, so an agency with 40 small client sites pays for traffic, not for sites.
  • You report to clients under your own name. Every price includes a multi-site overview, branded share links that clients open without logging in, and weekly or monthly email reports with your logo, name and colours. Share links can be served from your own address, such as reports.youragency.com.
  • You need revenue or 404 tracking. Attach an amount to an event and see revenue on the dashboard, or switch on 404 tracking to find broken links.
  • Ad blockers hide a real share of your visitors. A custom domain works on any site builder at every price.
  • You want to keep all your history for as long as you're subscribed, not 3 years.

Switching from Simple Analytics

Foresite has no importer, so your Simple Analytics history stays in Simple Analytics. Its free plan keeps only the last 30 days, so save any older stats you want to keep before you downgrade or cancel.

  1. Start a Foresite trial and add your sites. Seven days, no card.
  2. Add the Foresite Tracking Script next to Simple Analytics'. It's one line in the <head> of your site; the install guide has steps for Webflow, Framer, Squarespace, WordPress, Wix, Shopify and Carrd.
  3. Recreate your events and goals. Change each sa_event('signup') call in your code to foresite('signup'), then add your Goals in Settings → Goals. See custom events, goals and revenue. If you used Simple Analytics' automated events, switch on automatic events for outbound links and downloads.
  4. Move your ad-blocker setup. If you serve Simple Analytics from your own subdomain, set up a custom domain or a self-hosted proxy for Foresite. Use a different subdomain, since each one points at one service.
  5. Run both for the trial and compare pageviews. Expect visitor counts to differ: Simple Analytics counts a unique visitor from the referrer, and Foresite counts each visitor once per day. See how we count.
  6. Remove the Simple Analytics script once you're happy with Foresite, and cancel or downgrade your Simple Analytics plan.
