Foresite vs Vercel Web Analytics
Vercel Web Analytics is built into Vercel. It's free on the Hobby plan for personal sites up to 50,000 events a month. Commercial sites need Vercel Pro, at $20 a month, and analytics costs $0.03 per 1,000 events on top of that. If you already pay for Pro to host your site, only that analytics charge is extra, and it's less than Foresite up to about 2.3 million events a month: $30 vs $39 at 1 million. Foresite costs less above that ($149 vs $300 at 10 million), and less for a personal site that has outgrown Hobby but has fewer than 250,000 events a month, which would otherwise need Pro. Foresite also keeps your stats for as long as you subscribe instead of 12 or 24 months, and works on any site, not only ones deployed on Vercel. Every Foresite price includes UTM campaigns, goals, revenue, automatic events and branded client reports. Pick Vercel Web Analytics if your sites are all on Vercel and you want analytics with no extra vendor, bill or setup; pick Foresite if you also run sites elsewhere, want longer history, or report to clients.
Price comparison
Monthly prices in US dollars, before tax. Vercel's Pro prices are shown as the $20 a month Pro plan plus the analytics charge, which with Web Analytics Plus includes its $10 add-on. Any commercial site on Vercel needs the Pro plan whichever analytics it uses, so if you already pay for it to host your site, only the second number is extra.

Things to know when you read this table:
- Hobby is for personal sites. It's free and includes 50,000 events a month, but Vercel's fair use guidelines limit the Hobby plan to non-commercial, personal use. It keeps one month of history and has no custom events. When you go over 50,000, collection stops after a three-day grace period and starts again after seven days.
- The $20 Pro plan comes with $20 of usage credit. The credit is renewed each month and spent on bandwidth, functions, analytics and everything else your projects use. If your other usage leaves credit unspent, some of your analytics is effectively free. Once the credit is gone, each 1,000 events costs $0.03.
- UTM campaigns need Web Analytics Plus. It's a $10 a month add-on per team that also extends history from 12 to 24 months and allows 8 properties on each custom event instead of 2. Every Foresite price includes campaigns, unlimited history and up to 30 properties per event.
- Both count the same thing. Vercel counts each pageview and custom event as one event, across all projects in your team. So does Foresite, across all your sites. See how we count.
- Vercel's price rises smoothly, and Foresite's rises in steps. Foresite charges the price of the smallest step that covers your traffic. Just past a step, that costs you: at 1.1 million events, Vercel Pro's analytics charge is $33 and Foresite is $69.
- Going over works differently. Pro bills every event, and you can set a spending limit that alerts you or pauses your projects. Foresite has no plan to outgrow: each month, your next bill is the price for last month's traffic, up or down, and collection never stops. See pricing.

When Vercel Web Analytics is the better choice
- Your sites are personal and small. Hobby is free up to 50,000 events a month, if a month of history and no custom events are enough.
- You already pay for Vercel Pro and have under about 2.3 million events a month. The $20 plan is a cost of hosting there either way, and Vercel's analytics charge on top of it is lower than Foresite's price at those levels: $3 vs $9 at 100,000 events and $30 vs $39 at 1 million. Part of it can also come out of the plan's $20 usage credit.
- You want nothing extra to set up. It's one package, one component and a switch in a dashboard you already use, with the same bill and login. Ad blockers are handled for you, where Foresite needs a custom domain or a proxy.
- You build on the stats. Vercel has an API, a CLI, raw event export to other tools, route-level grouping and feature flag breakdowns. Foresite has none of these.
- Your team needs to see it. Pro includes unlimited free viewer seats. A Foresite account has one login.
When Foresite is the better choice
- Not all your sites are on Vercel. Vercel Web Analytics only measures Vercel deployments. Foresite measures your Next.js app, your Webflow marketing site and your client's WordPress site in one account, at one price.
- You want more than a year of history. Vercel keeps 12 months on Pro and 24 with Web Analytics Plus. Foresite keeps your stats for as long as you subscribe.
- You have a lot of traffic. From about 2.3 million events a month, Foresite costs less than Vercel's analytics charge alone, before the $20 plan, and the gap grows: $149 vs $300 at 10 million, and $449 vs $1,500 at 50 million.
- Your personal site has outgrown Hobby. Above 50,000 events a month, Vercel Web Analytics pauses on Hobby, and counting more means moving to Pro at $20 a month plus the analytics charge. With Foresite you can stay on Hobby and pay $9 a month for up to 100,000 events, or $19 for 250,000. Above 250,000, Pro usually costs less, because its $20 usage credit covers the analytics charge up to about 666,000 events if your site uses little else.
- You measure marketing and sales. UTM campaigns, goals, conversion rates, revenue and automatic tracking of outbound links, downloads and 404s are in every Foresite price. Vercel has campaigns with Web Analytics Plus and none of the rest.
- You're an agency or freelancer. Every price includes branded share links clients open without logging in, and weekly or monthly email reports with your logo, name and colours. On Vercel, a client would need a seat on your team.
Switching from Vercel Web Analytics
- Start a Foresite trial and add your sites. Seven days, no card.
- Add the Foresite script next to Vercel's. It's one line in your root layout; see Next.js and Vercel. Both can run side by side during the trial, so you can compare the numbers before you decide. Expect them to be close rather than identical, since the two count bots and visitors in their own ways.
- Move your custom events. Change each
track('signup', { plan: 'pro' })from@vercel/analyticstowindow.foresite?.('signup', { props: { plan: 'pro' } }). See custom events, goals and revenue. If you sent outbound clicks or downloads as custom events, switch on automatic events instead. - Get around ad blockers. Vercel did this for you. With Foresite, set up a custom domain or a self-hosted proxy.
- Keep your history. Foresite can't import Vercel data, so export what you want to keep before you switch off Vercel Web Analytics. Each dashboard panel exports up to 250 rows as CSV, and the API returns more.
- Remove
<Analytics />and the@vercel/analyticspackage, then switch off Web Analytics in your Vercel project.
